The support groups run at Perth Scoliosis Clinic are trying to help the family members around the scoliosis patient, have the tools to be able to manage and support their child to be resilient throughout their treatment and help support them to get the most out of their treatment journey.
The reality of scoliosis is that you need to optimise treatment outcomes during puberty and that relies on teamwork of the family unit, the patient and the treatment team.
We find that doing support group counselling in a group helps make you feel less isolated in the journey, and gives you a real life group of people who understand exactly what you are going through whilst all being guided by a professional to develop the skills to cope with it.
